Moral Values of the Qur'an

The 'Test' in the life of this world
“You shall certainly be tried and tested in your wealth and properties and in your personal selves, and you shall certainly hear much that will grieve you from those who received the Scripture before you (Jews and Christians) and from those who ascribe partners to Allah; but if you persevere patiently, and become Al-Muttaqun (the pious) then verily, that will be a determining factor in all affairs.” The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 3, Verse 186

“And know that your possessions and your children are but a trial and that surely, with Allah is a mighty reward.” The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 8, Verse 28
Allah tests each one of us with things that are within our reach
“O you who believe! Allah will certainly make a trial of you with something in (the matter of) the game that is well within the reach of your hands and your lances, that Allah may test who fears Him unseen. Then whoever transgresses thereafter, for him there is a painful torment.” The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 5, Verse 94
When will we be paid for our actions in this world?
“Everyone shall taste death. And only on the Day of Resurrection shall you be paid your wages in full. And whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception (a deceiving thing). The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 3, verse 185
No ones work will be lost
“So their Lord accepted of them (their supplication and answered them), “Never will I allow to be lost the work of any of you, be he male or female. You are (members) one of another, so those who emigrated and were driven out from their homes, and suffered harm in My Cause, and who fought, and were killed (in My Cause), verily, I will expiate from them their evil deeds and admit them into Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise); a reward from Allah, and with Allah is the best of rewards.”” The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 3, Verse 195
Each one’s good deed will be doubled
“Surely, Allah wrongs not even of the weight of an atom (or a small ant), but there is any good (done), He doubles it, and gives from Him a great reward.” The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 4, Verse 40
Allah is so Merciful that good deeds will be multiplied and small sins shall be overlooked if you avoid the major sins
“Whoever brings a good deed shall have ten times the like thereof to his credit, and whoever brings an evil deed shall have only the recompense of the like thereof, and they will not be wronged.” The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 6, Verse 160
“If you avoid the great sins which you are forbidden to do, we shall expiate from you your (small) sins, and admit you to a Noble Entrance (i.e., Paradise). The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 4, Verse 31
People whom a Muslim should take care and people whom Allah does not like
“Worship Allah and join none with Him (in worship); and do good
1) To parents,
2) Kinsfolk,
3) Orphans,
4) Al-Masakin (the poor),
5) The neighbor who is near of kin,
6) The neighbor who is a stranger,
7) The companion by your side,
8) The wayfarer (you meet),
9) And those (slaves) whom your right hands possess.
Verily, Allah does not like such as are proud and boastful.”
The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 4, Verse 36
What does Qur’an say about parents?
“And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a work of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honor.” “And lower unto them the wings of submission and humility through mercy, and say: “My Lord! Bestow on them your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was young.” The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 17, Verse 23-24
We should not make any distinction between messengers
“And those who believe in Allah and His Messengers and make no distinction between any of them (Messengers), We shall give them their rewards; and Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 4,Verse 152
Jesus (pbuh) was neither killed nor crucified
“And because of their saying (in boast), “We killed Messiah ‘Isa (Jesus), son of Maryam(Mary), the Messenger of Allah,” – but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but the resemblance of Isa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man), and those who differ therein are full of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge , they follow nothing but conjecture. For surely; they killed him not [i.e ‘Isa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary) pbuh];” The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 4, Verse 157
“But Allah raised him [‘Isa] up. And Allah is Ever All-powerful, All-Wise.” The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 4, Verse 158.
Rebuttal of Jesus being God
“Surely, in disbelief are they who say that Allah is the Messiah, son of Maryam (Mary). Say (O Muhammad (pbuh)) : “Who then has the least power against Allah, if He were to destroy the Messiah, son of Maryam (Mary), his mother, and all those who are on the earth together?” And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them. He creates what He wills. And Allah is Able to do all things.” The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 5, Verse 17
Qur’an about travel
“Travel in the land and see what was the end of those who rejected truth.” The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 6, Verse 11

“And with Him are the keys of the Ghaib (all that is hidden), none knows them but He. And He knows whatever there is in the land and on the sea; not a leaf falls, but He knows it. There is not a grain in the darkness of the earth nor anything fresh or dry, but is written in a Clear Record.” The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 6, Verse 59
“It is He, who takes your souls by night (when you are asleep), and has knowledge of all that you have done by day, then He raises (wakes) you up again that a term appointed (your life period) be fulfilled, then (in the end) unto Him will be your return. Then He will inform you of that which you used to do.” The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 6, Verse 60.
Things Commanded by Allah:
“Say (O Muhammad (pbuh)): Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited you from:
1) Join not anything in worship with Him;
2) Be good and dutiful to your parents;
3) Kill not your children because of poverty – We provide sustenance for you and for them;
4) Come not near to Al-Fawahish (shameful sins) whether committed openly or secretly;
5) Kill not anyone whom Allah has forbidden, except for a just cause;This he has commanded you that you may understand.
6) And come not near to the orphan’s property, except to improve it, until he (or she) attains the age of full strength;
7) And give full measure and full weight with justice.We burden not any person, but that which he can bear.
8)And whenever you give your word (i.e. judge between men or give evidence), say the truth even if a near relative is concerned, and fulfill the Covenant of Allah.
This He commands you that you may remember.
The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 6, Verses 151-152

5) And those who, when they spend, are neither extravagant nor niggardly, but hold a medium (way) between those (extremes).
6) And those who invoke not any other ilah (god) along with Allah
7) Nor kill such person as Allah has forbidden, except for just cause
8) Nor commit illegal sexual intercourse – and whoever does this shall receive the punishment. The torment will be doubled to him on the Day of Resurrection and he will abide therein in disgrace;
9) Except those who repent and believe and do righteous deeds; for those, Allah will change their sins into good deeds, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. And whosoever repents and does righteous good deeds; then verily, he repents towards Allah with true repentance.

Prohibiting the killing of a girl child
“And when the news of (the birth of) a female (child) is brought to any of them, his face becomes dark, and he is filled with inward grief!” “He hides himself from the people because of the evil of that whereof he has been informed. Shall he keep her with dishonor or bury her in the earth? Certainly, evil is their decision.” The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 16, Verse 58-59.

Deep Thought

In the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of night and day, there are signs for people with intelligence: those who remember Allah, standing, sitting and lying on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth: Our Lord, You have not created this for nothing. Glory be to You! So safeguard us from the punishment of the Fire. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 3,Verse 190-191

It is He who made the night a cloak for you and sleep a rest, and He made the day a time for rising. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 25,Verse 47
We made the day for earning a living. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 78,Verse 11
Do you not see that Allah sends down water from the sky and by it We bring forth fruits of varying colours? And in the mountains there are streaks of white and red, or varying shades, and rocks of deep jet black. And mankind and beasts and livestock are likewise of varying colours. Only those of His slaves with knowledge have fear of Allah. Allah is Almighty, Ever-Forgiving. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 35,Verse 27-28
It is Allah Who made the earth a stable home for you and the sky a dome, and formed you, giving you the best of forms, and provided you with good and wholesome things. That is Allah, your Lord. Blessed be Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 40,Verse 64
And He has made everything in the heavens and everything on the earth subservient to you. It is all from Him. There are certainly Signs in that for people who reflect. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 45,Verse 13
And We have sent down the Reminder to you so that you can make clear to mankind what has been sent down to them so that hopefully they will reflect. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 16,Verse 44
In the creation of the heavens and earth, and the alternation of the night and day, and the ships which sail the seas to people's benefit, and the water which Allah sends down from the sky – by which He brings the earth to life when it was dead and scatters about in it creatures of every kind – and the varying direction of the winds, and the clouds subservient between heaven and earth, there are Signs for people who use their intellect. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 2,Verse 164
Will they not ponder the Qur'an? If it had been from other than Allah, they would have found many inconsistencies in it. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 4,Verse 82
Will they not ponder the word (of Allah)? Has anything come to them that did not come to their ancestors the previous peoples? The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 23,Verse 68
It (the Qur'an) is a Book We have sent down to you, full of blessing, so let people of intelligence ponder its Sign and take heed. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 38,Verse 29
We did not create the heavens and the earth and everything between them as a game. We did not create them except with truth but most of them do not know it. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 44,Verse 38-39)
Did you suppose that We created you for amusement and that you would not return to Us? The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 23,Verse 115
Likeness of those who see God's 'Signs' in this world:
There are men who proclaim His glory morning and evening, not distracted by trade or commerce from the remembrance of Allah and the establishment of salat (regular Prayer) and the payment of zakat (regular Charity); fearing a day when all hearts and eyes will be in turmoil – so that Allah can reward them for the best of what they did and give them more from His unbounded favour. Allah provides for anyone He wills without reckoning. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 24,Verse 37-38
He Who created me and guides me;
He Who gives me food and gives me drink;
And when I am ill, it is He Who heals me;
He Who will cause my death, then give me life;
He Who I sincerely hope will forgive my mistakes on the Day of Reckoning.
My Lord, give me right judgement and unite me with the righteous. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 26,Verse 79-83
Description of people who refuse to think or ponder about this life deeply:
As for those who have taqwa, when they are bothered by visitors from Satan, they remember and immediately see clearly. But as for their brothers, the visitors lead them further into error. And they do not stop at that! The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 7,Verse 201-202
They know an outward aspect of the life of this world but are heedless of the hereafter. Have they not reflected within themselves? Allah did not create the heavens and the earth and everything between them except with truth and for a fixed term. Yet many people reject the meeting with their Lord. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 30,Verse 7-8
Those are the people who have lost their own selves. What they invented has abandoned them. Without question they will be the greatest losers in the hereafter. As for those who believe and do right actions and humble themselves before their Lord, they are the Companions of the Garden, remaining in it timelessly, forever. The likeness of the two groups is that of the blind and deaf and the seeing and hearing. Are they the same as one another? So will you not pay heed? The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 11,Verse 21-24
The likeness of those who disbelieve is that of someone who yells out to something which cannot hear - it is nothing but a cry and a call. Deaf - dumb - blind. They do not use their intellects. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 2,Verse 171
…They have hearts they do not understand with. They have eyes they do not see with. They have ears they do not hear with. Such people are like cattle. No, they are even further astray! They are the unaware. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 7,Verse 179
Do you suppose that most of them hear or understand? They are just like cattle. Indeed they are even more astray! The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 25,Verse 44
Have they not reflected within themselves? Allah did not create the heavens and the earth and everything between them except with truth and for a fixed term. Yet many people reject the meeting with their Lord. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 30,Verse 8
The guidance and abomination in the Qur’an:
Remember your Lord in yourself humbly and fearfully, without loudness of voice, morning and evening. Do not be of the heedless ones. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 7,Verse 205
Warn them of the day of bitter regret when the affair will be resolved. But they take no notice and they do not believe. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 19,Verse 39
It is He Who shows you His signs, and sends down provision to you out of heaven. But none pay heed save those who turn unto Him repentant. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 40,Verse 13
Say: To whom does the earth belong, and everyone in it, if you have any knowledge?
They will say: To Allah. Say: So will you not pay heed?
Say: Who is the Lord of the Seven Heavens and the Lord of the Mighty Throne?
They will say: Allah. Say: So will you not have taqwa?
Say: In whose hand is the dominion over everything, He who gives protection and from whom no protection can be given, if you have any knowledge?
They will say: Allah's. Say: So how have you been bewitched?
The fact is that We have given them the truth and they are liars. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 23,Verse 84-90
*Taqwa: Awe or fear of Allah, which inspires a person to be on guard against wrong action and eager for actions which please Him.

Is He Who creates like him who does not create? So will you not pay heed? The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 16,Verse 17
Like those before you who had greater strength than you and more wealth and children. They enjoyed their portion; so enjoy your portion as those before you enjoyed theirs. You have plunged into defamation as they plunged into it. The actions of such people come to nothing in this world or the hereafter. They are the lost. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 9,Verse 69
Condition of people on the Day of Judgement, who failed to ponder and understand the purpose of life:
You were heedless of this, so We have stripped you of your covering and today your sight is sharp. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 50,Verse 22
The stupor of death will come in truth. (And it is said unto him): That is what you were trying to evade! The trumpet is blown. That is the day of the threat. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 50,Verse 19-20
They will shout out in it, Our Lord! Take us out! We will act rightly, differently from the way we used to act! Did We not let you live long enough for anyone who was going to pay heed to pay heed? And did not the warner come to you? Taste it then! There is no helper for the wrongdoers. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 35,Verse 37
That day Hell is produced, that day man will remember; but how will the remembrance help him?
He will say, Oh! If only I had prepared in advance for this life of mine! The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 89,Verse 23-24

Believer's Attitude

ENTHUSIASM & OPTIMISM
"Do not weaken and do not grieve, and you will be superior if you are believers."The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 3,Verse 139
"Hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden [i.e., Paradise] as wide as the heavens and earth." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 3,Verse 133
"Then We caused to inherit the Book those We have chosen of Our servants; and among them is he who wrongs himself [i.e., sins], and among them is he who is moderate, and among them is he who is foremost in good deeds by permission of Allah. That is what is the great bounty." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 35,Verse 32
"Not equal are those believers remaining [at home] - other than the disabled - and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred those who strive through their wealth and their lives over those who remain inactive, by degrees. And to all Allah has promised the best [reward]. But Allah has preferred those who strive over those who remain inactive with a great reward - degrees [of high position] from Him and forgiveness and mercy. And Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 4,Verse 95-96.
"The ones who have believed, emigrated and striven in the cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives are greater in rank in the sight of Allah. And it is those who are the attainers [of success]." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 9,Verse 20
"Those did not [truly] believe, so Allah has rendered their deeds worthless, and that is ever, for Allah, easy." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 33,Verse 19
Those the Qur'an describes as people who lack a complete faith can easily fall into the trap of Satan since they do not exercise wisdom and conscience. Such people claim that they have faith but never feel it deep in their hearts. The call of Satan and the lifestyle to which he invites seems alluring to them, and thus they follow it gladly and willingly. As always, however, Satan only calls people to delusion and Hellfire, the eternal abode of punishment. "O Allah, I seek Your protection from distress and grief, from failure and laziness, and from the burden of debt and from being overcome by men."
"Among the believers are men true to what they promised Allah. Among them is he who has fulfilled his vow, and among them is he who awaits [his chance]. And they did not alter [the terms of their commitment] by any alteration." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 33,Verse 23.

The Final Message

1) A divinely revealed belief system
" And with truth We have sent it down (the Qur'an), and with truth it has descended. And We have sent you (O Muhammad(pbuh)) as nothing but a bearer of glad tidings and a warner" The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 17, Verse 105

"And truly, this (the Qur'an) is a revelation from the Lord of the Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists), which the trustworthy Ruh (Jibril(Gabriel)) has brought down upon your heart (O Muhammad(pbuh)) that you may be one of the warners, in the plain Arabic lanuguage." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 26, Verses 192-195
2) A belief system centred on the laws of Allah
"Say (O Muhammad(pbuh)): I am only a man like you. It has been revealed to me that your Ilah (God) is One Ilah (God i.e. Allah)" The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 18, Verse 110
"Say (O Muhammad(pbuh)): I possess no power over benefit or hurt to myself excpet as Allah wills. If I had the knowledge of the Ghayb (Unseen), I should have secured for myself an abundance of wealth, and no evil should have touched me. I am but a waner, and a bringer of glad tidings unot people who believe." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 7, Verse 188
3) An ongoing or eternal miracle
"And they say: Why are not signs sent down to him from his Lord? Say: The signs are only with Allah, and I am only a plain warner. Is it not sufficient for them that We have sent down to you the Book (the Qur'an) which is recited to them? Verily, herein is mercy and a reminder for a people who believe" The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 29, Verses 50-51
"We will show them Our signs in the universe, and in their own selves, until it becomes manifest to them that this (the Qur'an) is the truth. Is it not sufficient in regard to your Lord that He is a witness over all things?" The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 41, Verse 53
4) A message which addresses reason
"Verily, in these are Ayat ( prrofs, evidences, signs) for the people who understand." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 13, Verse 4
"Thus do we explain the signs in detail to a people who have sense." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 30, Verse 28
"Say (O Muhammad(pbuh): I exhort you to one thing only, that you stand up for Allah's sake in pairs and singly, and reflect (within yourselves in the life history of the Prophet(pbuh), there is no madness in your companion (Muhammad(pbuh)). He is only a warner to you of a severe torment." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 34, 46
5) A message to all mankind
"O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and mad eyou into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honourabl of you with Allah is that (believer) who has at-Taqwa ( i.e. he is one of the Muttaqun (the pious)). Verily, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 46, Verse 13
"It (this Qur'an) is only a reminder for all the Alamin (mankind, jinn ad all that exists). And you shall certainly know the truth of it after a while." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 38, Verses 87-88
6) A balance between the spiritual and the material
"But seek, with that (wealth) which Allah has bestowed on you, the home of the Hereafter, and forget not your portion of lawful enjoyment in this world; and do good as Allah has been good to you, and seek not mischief in the land. Verily, Allah loves not the Mufsidun (those who commit great crimes, oppressors, tyrants, mischief makers)." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 28, Verse 77
"Say (O Muhammad(pbuh)): Who has forbidden the adornment with clothes given by Allah, which He has produced for His slaves, and At-Tayyibat ( All kinds of Halal(lawful) things) of food? Say: They are, in the life of this world, for those who believe, (and) exclusively for them (believers) on the Day of Resurrection. Thus We explain the Ayat (Islamic laws) in detail for people who have knowledge." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 7, Verse 32
7) An eternal message for every time and place
"So set you (O Muhammad(pbuh)) your face towards the religion (of pure monotheism). Allah's Fitrah (Islamic Montheism) with which He has created mankind. No change let there be in Khalqillah ( the religion of Allah - Monotheism), that is the straight religion, but most of men know not." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 30, Verse 30
8) A message protected by the One who revealed it
"Verily, We, it is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (the Qur'an) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption)." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 15, Verse 9

What is my duty

Mankind! Worship your Lord, Who created you and those before you, so that hopefully you may do your duty. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 2,Verse 21
That is Allah, your Lord. There is no god but Him, the Creator of everything. So worship Him. He is responsible for everything. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 6,Verse 102
'My people, worship Allah! You have no other god than Him. I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day.' The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 7,Verse 59
The Unseen of the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah and the whole affair will be returned to Him. So worship Him and put your trust in Him. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 11,Verse 123
Mankind! Heed your Lord and fear a day when no father will be able to atone for his son, or son for his father, in any way. Allah's promise is true. So do not let the life of this world delude you and do not let the Deluder delude you concerning Allah. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 31,Verse 33
… So heed Allah. And know that you will be gathered back to Him.The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 2,Verse 203
Allah augments those who are guided by giving them greater guidance. In your Lord's sight, right actions which are lasting are better both in reward and end result. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 19,Verse 76
Will they not ponder the Qur'an? If it had been from other than Allah, they would have found many inconsistencies in it. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 4,Verse 82
"We have sent down the Book to you with truth. So worship Allah, making your religion sincerely His. Indeed the sincere religion belongs to Allah alone..." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 39,Verse 2-3

What is this life for

God did not create this world without purpose. God tells mankind in the Qur’an that the life of this world is a test, a test to see “which of you is best in action” and that each soul would be repaid in full for whatever it has earned in this earthly sojourn.
We did not create the heavens and the earth and everything between them as a game. We did not create them except with truth but most of them do not know it. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 44,Verse 38-39
He Who created death and life to test which of you is best in action. He is the Almighty, the Ever-Forgiving. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 67,Verse 2
Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts) of hearing and sight. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 76,Verse 2
Not for (idle) sport did We create the heavens and the earth and all that is between them! If it had been Our wish to take (just) a pastime, We could have found it in Our presence, if We would do (such a thing)! The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 21,Verse 16-17
That which is on earth We have made but as a glittering show for the earth, in order that We may test them – as to which of them are best in conduct. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 18,Verse 7
Know that your wealth and children are a trial and that there is an immense reward with Allah. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 8,Verse 28
We will test you with a certain amount of fear and hunger and loss of wealth and life and fruits of your toil. But give good news to the steadfast: Those who, when disaster strikes them, say, "We belong to Allah and to Him we will return". Those are the people who will have blessings and mercy from their Lord; they are the ones who are guided. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 2,Verse 155-157
Know you (all), that the life of this world is but play and amusement, pomp and mutual boasting and multiplying (in rivalry) among yourselves, riches and children. Here is a similitude: How rain and the growth which it brings forth delight (the hearts of) the tillers; soon it withers; you will see it grow yellow; then it becomes dry and crumbles away. But in the Hereafter is a Penalty severe (for the devotees of wrong). And Forgiveness from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure (for the devotees of Allah). And what is the life of this world, but goods and chattels of deception? The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 57,Verse 20
The life of this world is nothing but a game and a diversion. The hereafter is better for those who guard against evil. So will you not use your intellect? The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 6,Verse 32
Wealth and sons are the embellishment of the life of this world. But, in your Lord's sight, right actions which are lasting bring a better reward and are a better basis for hope. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 18,Verse 46
"We did not give any human being before you immortality. And if you die, will they then be immortal? Every self will taste death. We test you with both good and evil as a trial. And you will be returned to Us," The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 21,Verse 34-35
You will be tested in your wealth and in yourselves... The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 3,Verse 186
Know that the life of the world is merely a game and a diversion and ostentation and a cause of boasting among yourselves and trying to outdo one another in wealth and children: like the plant-growth after rain which delights the cultivators, but then it withers and you see it turning yellow, and then it becomes broken stubble. In the hereafter there is terrible punishment but also forgiveness from Allah and His good pleasure. The life of the world is nothing but the enjoyment of delusion. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 57,Verse 20

[47-51] With power did We construct the heaven. Verily, We are Able to extend the vastness of space thereof.

What After Ramadan

What After Ramadan?
Item DescriptionThe Title: What After Ramadan?Language: EnglishDate Added: Oct 26,2007Reveiwers : Muhammad Abu Abdul MueedFrom issues : Daar Al-Watan - www.islaam.comAttachments of the Item : 2Short Description: What After Ramadan: The noble month is a true school of transformation in which we change our actions, habits and manners, but what will happen after it is gone, do Muslim continue performing the good deeds.: عربي - বাংলা - മലയാളം - ไทย - Bosanski - ЎзбекчаPage Display Counter: 1664Link : http://www.islamhouse.com/p/58128
IN THE NAME OF ALLAH THE MOST GRACIOUS AND THE MOST MERCIFULAlHamdulillahi wa kafaa, was-Salatu was-salamu `alaa `ibaadihi-lladheena Stafaa Amma baad:We leave the blessed month of Ramadan, its beautiful days and its fragrant nights. We leave the month of the Qur'an, taqwa, patience, jihad, mercy, forgiveness and freedom from hellfire…Have we fulfilled the requirements of taqwa and graduated from the Ramadan school with the diploma of the god-fearing?Have we fought our souls and desires and defeated them, or have we been overtaken by our customs and blind imitations?Have we performed our actions in a way that fulfills the conditions for receiving mercy, forgiveness and release from the Fire?Many questions and numerous thoughts come to the heart of the sincere Muslim, who asks and answers with truthfulness.- What Have We Gained From Ramadan?Ramadan is a school of imaan and a 'stop to recharge one's spiritual batteries'- to acquire one's provision for the rest of the year...For when will one take a lesson and change for better if not in the month of Ramadan?The noble month is a true school of transformation in which we change our actions, habits and manners that are in variance with the Law of Allah 'azza wa jall.{{"Verily, Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves."}} (Quran, 13:11)If you are from those who benefited from Ramadan, fulfilled the requirements of taqwa, truly fasted the month, prayed in it with truthfulness, and strove against your soul, then praise and thank Allah, and ask Him for steadfastness upon it until you meet your death.Be not like one who has sewn a shirt and then destroyed it... Have you seen one who sewed a shirt or thaub, so when she looked at it, she liked it. Then she destroyed it pulling a thread by thread for no reason. What would people say about such a person?!Or have you seen one who earns a fortune trading throughout the day, then when the night comes, he throws away all that he earned, dirham by dirham. What would people say about such a person?!This is the condition of one who returns to sinning and evildoing after Ramadan and leaves obedience and righteous actions. So after he was favored with the blessing of obedience and enjoyment of communicating with Allah he returned to the blaze of sins and evil actions. How evil are the people who know Allah only in Ramadan!My dear ones,Falling short in one's commitment to Islam after Ramadan is manifested in many ways, including:1- Men leaving the five prayers in congregation, after they filled mosques for Taraweeh prayers, thus going to the Masjid for recommended prayers and leaving obligatory ones.2- Return to musical entertainment, forbidden films, women displaying their adornment beyond that which ordinarily appears thereof, free mixing etc.This is not thankfulness for blessings and favors, nor is it the sign of acceptance of one's actions, rather this is opposition to favors and absence of thankfulness.These are from signs of one's deeds not being accepted – and Allah's refuge is sought – for one who truly fasts rejoices on the occasion of `Eid, praises his Lord for helping him complete the fast, and remains fearful that Allah may not accept his fasting, just as the Salaf would continue asking for acceptance of their actions in Ramadan for six months after it.From signs that one's deeds are accepted is that he or she has improved in his or her obedience to Allah `azza wa jall.{{"And remember when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]…"}} (Quran, 14:7)Increase you in good, faith and righteous actions. So if the servant is truly thankful to his Lord, you will see him guided to more obedience and distanced from sinfulness. Thankfulness is leaving sins, as the early Muslims said.{{"And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty [i.e. death]."}} (Quran, 15:99)The Muslim must continuously be in the state of obedience of Allah, firm upon His Shari'ah, steadfast upon His Deen, so that he or she is not of those who worship Allah only during one month or only in one place. Rather, the believer knows that the Lord of Ramadan is also the Lord of other months, and that He is the Lord of all times and places, so he is steadfast upon the Shari'ah of Allah until he meets Him while He is pleased with him. Allah `azza wa jall said:{{"So remain on a right course as you have been commanded, [you] and those who have turned back with you [to Allah]."}} (Quran, 11:112) And,{{"So take a straight course to Him and seek His forgiveness."}} (Quran, 41:6)And the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said:{{"Say 'I believe in Allah', then be steadfast."}} (Muslim)- If the fasting in Ramadan has ended, then there remains voluntary fasting, such as fasting six days in Shawwal, on Mondays and Thursdays, the three days in the middle of the month, the days of `Aashoora and `Arafat, and others.- If standing in prayer at night during Ramadan has ended, then there remains voluntary night prayer throughout the year.{{"They used to sleep but little of the night."}} (Quran, 51:17)- If the charity in Ramadan and Zakat ul-fitr have ended, then there is the obligatory Zakat, and also there are many other open doors to charity, voluntary actions and jihad.- Reading of the Qur'an and contemplating it is not only for Ramadan, rather it is for all times.Righteous actions are for all times and all places, so strive – O my brothers and sisters – and beware of laziness. And remember that it is not allowed for us to leave the obligatory actions or delay them, such as the five daily prayers on time, in congregation etc.And do not fall into forbidden actions, such as forbidden sayings, food and drinks, or by looking at or listening to what is forbidden.Be steadfast and upright upon the Deen of Allah at all times, for you do not know when you'll meet the Angel of Death. Beware of him taking you while you are in a state of sin."O Allah, Who turns the hearts, keep our hearts steadfast upon Your Deen"I ask Allah to accept from us and you our fasting, our prayers and other righteous actions, that our condition after Ramadan be a better one, that the state of our Ummah improves, that we are granted honour and that we truly turn to our Lord…Ameen.
